Communication in the Capulet family: argumentative paragraph

Juliet would not have been forced to take such drastic action if she simply communicated with her family. Ultimately, Juliet, her mother and her father needed to sit down and have a nice long talk.

Romeo and Juliet, the story of two star-crossed lovers, wouldn’t ultimately be different if Juliet had communicated with her family about her love for Romeo. In act 3 scene 4 when Capulet proposes Juliet’s hand in marriage to Paris, both Capulet and Lady Capulet do not know of Juliet’s love for Romeo. When Lady Capulet speaks to Juliet about the marriage she cries “Now, by Saint Peter's Church and Peter too, he shall not make me there a joyful bride” (III, v, 116-117). The significance of this quote is that she would rather die then marry Paris. Later in act 3 scene 5 she tries to reason with Capulet in which he replies “Graze where you will you shall not house with me… And you be not, hang, beg, starve, die in the streets” (III, v, 188-192). Capulet threatens to throw Juliet onto the street and watch her either die or become a prostitute, if she doesn’t marry Paris, he also hits her. Now imagine what he would do to her if she came to him saying that she had gone behind his back and married the son of his enemy. He would probably kill her instead of letting the streets do his dirty work.

The Sun. The Moon and The Stars

Throughout Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare makes effective use of imagery that is related to the sky. This imagery helps the audience gain a greater understanding of the characters and central themes. A significant quote from the book explaining love is; “The brightness of her cheek would shame those stars, as daylight doth a lamp; her eyes in heaven”(II, ii, 19-20). The importance of this quote is that Romeo is explaining about how he sees Juliet as bright and star-like. This is significant as Romeo refers to himself as darkness earlier on in the play. This quote ties in with the theme that Juliet, with her love, brings Romeo to the light. Another central theme being discussed in this quote is that everyone’s lives are written through-out the stars. “Is it even so? Then I defy you, stars!” (v.i.24). This quote is explaining how Romeo thinks that everyone’s destiny is in the stars and how he is trying to defy his fate and change it.

Juliet's character profile

How would you describe this character's personality?
I would describe Juliet’s personality as gentle, caring and a little passionate.

How is this character viewed by other people in the play?
Juliet is viewed at the only Capulet heir and the young Capulet lady.

What relationship does this person have to others in the play?

Juliet has a passionate and loving relationship with Romeo. She has a loyal relationship with her mother and father. She has a more intimate relationship with her Nurse though who has raised her from the moment she was born. Juliet’s mother was not as much in her life as the Nurse whom she confides in about Romeo. She has a relationship with Tybalt who is her cousin, however when Romeo kills Tybalt she is far more concerned about Romeo being banished compared to her cousin dying.

What does this character's main role seem to be?
Her main role is Romeo’s love interest. She is meant to be marrying Paris but decides to marry Romeo instead. Her love life is the main plotline of the story. She doesn’t involve herself in any of the fights and is really calm. She is a calm person and her main role is to solve her problems.

Are there any specific themes that you can identify that are linked to this character?

Definetely Love and only love. She doesn’t really show hate as she is too nice. Even when romeo kills tybalt she only feels love for romeo and does not really think about tybalt and hate is never really shown from her point of view. The only time is when the Nurse isn’t telling her about what Romeo has said and then she gets a little bit angry.

Romeo's impulsivity

Romeo is an impulsive character and his actions are influenced by his emotions. A good example of his impulsivity is when he kills Tybalt after Tybalt kills Mercutio, his best friend. “Now, Tybalt, take the villain back again, that late thou gavest me; for Mercutio's soul is but a little way above our heads, staying for thine to keep him company: Either thou, or I, or both, must go with him.”(III, i, 116-120). This quote happens just after Mercutio dies from the fatal stab from Tybalt’s sword and Romeo is furious at the death of his best friend. In his rage he proposes a duel with Tybalt and in his fury he kills Tybalt. This quote is significant as it shows that Romeo is so bound by his emotions that he cannot control himself. Another example of his impulsivity is when he goes to Friar Lawrence and he gives him this advice: “wisely and slow, they stumble that run fast.” The significance of this quote is that Friar Lawrence thinks that Romeo will ruin things if he doesn’t take it slow. Shakespeare uses a technique called foreshadowing, in this instance to show the reader that something tragic is going to happen to Romeo and Juliet.

Respect your elders!

The family elders in the Capulet household are supreme. Tybalt learns this at the party when he is verbally abused by Capulet for saying that he should start a fight with Romeo. “this trick may chance to scathe you, I know what. You must contray me!...Be quiet, or… for shame, I’ll make you quiet what!" This quote is significant in that it makes Tybalt very angry to just sit and watch Romeo at a party at his house and he cannot do anything about it, he vows to get his revenge later, “I will withdraw, but this intrusion shall, now seeming sweet, convert to bitt’rest gall.” The Capulet family elders are the most important in the house and hold absolute power.

Benvolio Character Profile

How would you describe this character's personality?
Benvolio is a wise character. He is similar to Romeo in the fact that he is conservative and doesn't try to start fights. He is different from Romeo in the fact that he is not a fool of love. Benvolio is always there for his cousin and on countless occasions he helps keep Romeo stable.
How is this character viewed by other people in the play?
Benvolio is viewed as a wise and kind person who is very knowledgeable.
What relationship does this person have to others in the play?

He has a close relationship to Romeo and he acts similar to a mentor." Tell me in sadness, who is that you love?" (I, i, 190). This quote is showing how much Benvolio helps Romeo through his obsession with Rosaline.
What does this character's main role seem to be?
To help Romeo and act as a friend to him.
Are there any specific themes that you can identify that are linked to this character?
His choice of words and that he is always there for Romeo.

Romeo Character Profile

How would you describe this character's personality?
Romeo is a person who seems to fall in love with the wrong girls, and when he falls; he falls hard. His first love is Rosaline, it is a love which is unrequited."This love I feel, that feel no love in this" (I, i, 172). This quote shows us that Romeo feels helpless when it comes to his love for Rosaline. His love for her is more based on looks then personality and his idea of her. Romeo is a bit of a fool. He is unrealistic and a hopeless romantic. He is very conservative and doesn't really like to fight. He is best friends with Mercutio. During the beginning of the book he is depressed by the thoughts of his unrequited love for Rosaline.
How is this character viewed by other people in the play?
Romeo is viewed as a nice, handsome young man by the citizens of Verona. He is viewed by Benvolio as his foolish cousin and Juliet views him as a handsome young man. Mercutio views him as his conservative best friend. His parents view his as extremely sad. "Shuts up his windows, locks fair daylight out... black and portentous must this humor prove." (I, i, 130-132). The significance of this quote is to demonstrate the link between depression and darkness. This is more important later on when he compares Juliet as 'the light'. He is hated by the Capulets.
What relationship does this person have to others in the play?
He has a very hateful with the Capulets particularly Tybalt. Romeo has an estranged relatioship with his parents. He has a playfully antagonistic relationship with Mercutio. Romeo has a close relationship with Benvolio and his relationship with Juliet is passionate and intense. "It is my lady, O it is my love" (II, ii, 10). This quote is showing the signicicance of Romeo's love for Juliet, he has only known her for a short time and yet he loves her.
What does this character's main role seem to be?
He is one of the central characters, the play doesn't exist without him.
Are there any specific themes that you can identify that are linked to this character?
His character follows the theme that he is a romantic and throughout the play he is identified with love sonnets. "My lips, two blushing pilgrima, ready stand to smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss." (I, v, 94-95). The significance of this quote is that it is one of the many love sonnets that Romeo and Juliet share throughout the play.

Romeo and Juliet diary entry

Dear Diary

I know I shouldn’t have but I did. Diary, I snuck out to Valerie’s party and I met a guy there. He was sweet, kind and gorgeous. But he’s 25. As you know I am 17. He kissed me and it was the most amazing experience of my life. But we can’t be together. My parents found out that I kissed a 25 year old guy and they said that if I ever see him again they’ll disown me. Diary I don’t know what to do! He is only 8 years older, its not that much. My parents are 10 years apart, For Christ's sake! I think I love him but I don’t know if I should risk upsetting my parents. Oh Diary! Why is life and love so difficult!

Taylor Swift's - Love Story, discussing its relavance to Romeo and Juliet

Outline the subject matter of the poem?

The subject matter of this poem is that a young girl falls in love with a boy and her parents are forcing them apart. After much pleading on the boy’s behalf the parents, especially the dad, give in and let them get married.

Why is the poem entitled “Love Story”? Use evidence from the lyrics to support the titles significance and relevance.

It is titled “Love Story” because it is the story of love between two characters. “I talked to your dad, you'll pick out a white dress. It's a love story, baby, just say yes”.

Describe the relationship between the two characters. Who are they?

They are people who met at a party and they fall in love. Her dad is making him stay away but they sneak out. I guess you could say they have a secretive relationship.

What evidence is there to suggest that these lovers have to overcome obstacles in their relationship?

The dad is forcing them to be apart. “And my daddy said stay away from Juliet”. But they met secretively. “This love is difficult, but it's real”.

What themes and issues are explored in the lyrics and through the video clip?

The difficulty of love and how parents can effect the relationship.

How does the “Love story” end for Romeo and Juliet in the song? Is this how it ends for the Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet? Why does Taylor Swift end her song this way? What perspective is she writing from and why would they want the story to end this way?

Taylor Swift is writing it from “Juliet’s” point of view and in “Love Story” it ends with them getting married but in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet they both die. Taylor Swift most likely ends it this way so that it isn’t a tragedy but a romance.

Femininity in the Devil Wears Prada

In the film The Devil Wears Prada femininity is represented through the use of fashion, attitude and the ability to succeed. It can be clearly seen in two of the films principal characters Miranda Priestly and Nigel. Femininity in the film is portrayed through a range of characters and film techniques, including tilts, pans and camera angles. Miranda represents femininity through fashion, make-up and power where as Nigel represents it through his fashion, personality and behaviour. Nigel is the art director of runway, he looks after the fashion articles and photo- shoots. Miranda is the editor in chief of Runway and she is at the top of the fashion industry. Nigel and Miranda’s jobs are very dissimilar; Miranda is the top of the hierarchy and Nigel rests below her. This one makes Miranda superior to Nigel and two shows the diversity in their jobs.

The film demonstrates that an important part of femininity is a person’s attitude. Nigel is an obvious example of this. He shows femininity through his attitude and personality. Nigel shows femininity through his attitude, especially in the way he talks. An example of this is during the movie he says “wake-up 6!” Which is an insensitive fashion insult because, “size 6 is the new 14”. This demonstrates that Nigel has a judgemental attitude when it comes to fashion and Andy. Another way in which he represents femininity is through his creativity and artistic talent. He is head of the art department at Runway and he organises all of the photo shoots. He adds his flair to the way he dresses the models and the way he organises the artistic area of the magazine. This shows that his dedication towards fashion is feminine.

Miranda represents femininity through her knowledge of the fashion industry and her high fashion clothes and designer cosmetics. This is the reason why she is impressed when Andy changes her wardrobe to become more feminine. Miranda lives for fashion and designer accessories. During the film this is evident when she is explaining to Andy her knowledge of the fashion industry and why she wears her lumpy blue sweater. “That sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise. It's not lapis. It's actually cerulean… and in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns… And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers… that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry.” This quote demonstrates her complete knowledge of fashion and the industry in which she works. If Miranda did not know about the fashion industry she would not be seen as feminine, as the industry in which she works is feminine. She also represents femininity through her clothes and fashion. Many examples of this are strewn throughout the movie, such as; on Andy’s first day at work.

During the film both Nigel and Miranda represent femininity, in similar and different ways. In the film there are very little similarities between Miranda and Nigel however they both share the love of fashion and the sense of belonging they receive from working in the industry. Many differences separate Nigel and Miranda, from her superiority to his inferiority. His femininity is portrayed through his character’s personality and behavior. Examples of this are scatters throughout the film such as; when he says “We have to get to the beauty department, and God knows how long that's going to take.” Miranda’s femininity is reliant upon material items, such as designer accessories, cosmetics and clothes. These material possessions helped Miranda into the position she is in today. Without her accessories and clothes, nobody would have noticed her. These two different types of femininity are vastly different but help make the character’s personas complete. The film techniques in the movie are mainly in favor of Miranda as she is more powerful then Nigel, examples of this include that the camera is tilted up towards Miranda and down towards Nigel when they are together. Miranda is also the most dominant person in the shots. She is the most focused on, everyone else is in the background.

In conclusion femininity in the Devil Wears Prada is represented through many different areas. One way, Miranda’s way, is through high fashion, designer cosmetics and accessories. Another way, Nigel’s way, is through attitude, personality and behavior. A person’s persona. Film techniques and characters help portray these types of femininity throughout the film. The Devil wears Prada is a prime example of how femininity is not just about being a woman.

Metrecal

The way that femininity is being presented in this advertisement is that you have to be thin to be feminine. This advertisement, called Metrecal, is about a weight loss drink and how it is “the most convenient way to lose weight safely”. Metrecal also shows that it can be social to lose weight as the drink “fits into your way of life.” This quote also shows that by losing weight your social life will soar and so you will have less time to eat. The images that are shown are of the drink being opened and poured into a chilled wine glass. The hand holding the glass is also perfectly manicured with pink nails. This could be representing how women should always look good. This article comes from a woman’s magazine and so this is pointing out that only women are overweight and not men. This article shows to women everywhere that to be social you have to be thin.

Empathy Exercises

Imagine you are Andy and you have just found out that you are going to Paris instead of Emily. You haven't told her yet.

Dear Journal.
Miranda just told me I am going with her to Paris. I am still in shock. I don't know how I am going to break the news to Emily. I feel really bad about her not going, she has been starving herself for weeks. She looks amazing. I still haven’t decided how to break the news to her. Miranda has kind of dumped it all on me, as usual. I have also been made first assistant, which is also pretty exciting. I just don't know what to do. Actually I might call her right now.

Bye, for now journal.

Empathy Exercises

Imagine you are Emily and you have just found out that Andy is going to Paris instead of you.
Dear Journal.
I am so angry today. Life just isn’t fair. What is it about me journal, I starve myself for weeks to go on this trip to Paris and I now find out that Andy is going instead of me!! Miranda is a dragon-lady, well we all know that but this is too far, I have been working here for over 3 years now and Andy got the job only 2 months ago!!!! It is just so frustrating journal, the level of unfairness is unbelievable. I know Miranda would have fired her but that is no excuse. I don't even care that I’m in hospital that's also Andy’s fault I was on the phone to here when I got hit by that stupid car. I AM JUST SO ANGRY. I am so angry that I can see straight and I can even write in you I just getting more frustrated, did u known I have broken my pencil 4 TIMEES!!! ARGH!!! I don't want to hurt you journal so I will write to you again when I have calmed down.

How Women are represented through fashion and self-help magazines

The article in cosmopolitan called 23 ways to fake your weight represents women as fake and not being who they really are. This is partially the media fault. We are shown images of tiny size 0 model s and we want to look like them because they are the ones with the fame and success. The media has helped distort our vision of whom/what is normal. It used to be size 8-10 was normal and healthy now its size 0-4. In this article they talk about Isla Fisher. Fisher is clearly a healthy weight and yet the magazine portrays her as ‘faking her weight’. It also shows you how to do the perfect photo pose to make yourself look slimmer. They use Isla Fisher as the model for the ‘perfect pose’. This article names and shames many stars who may not have looked that good that night the photo was taken but they are still people and on other occasions they may have look amazing. Cosmopolitan and many fashion/self help magazines have distorted our view of what is normal and have cause us to no longer be who we want to be but the fake ‘perfect’ person.

The Way Women are Represented through Song

A Gold Digger is a person who seeks a partner under the guise of a romantic relationship, but only seeks to exploit the person financially. In this song Kanye West is singing about a beautiful woman who he ‘loves’ but “From what I heard she got a baby by Busta, My best friend say she used to f*** with Usher”. This is saying how she is a woman who has been ‘around’ with quite a few famous musicians. In his last verse Kanye raps that “She got one of yo' kids, got you for 18 years, I know somebody payin' child support for one of his kids, And on her 18th birthday, he found out it wasn't his”. He is trying to say that women are cheating liars who only want your money. This corroborates with “She was supposed to buy ya shorty Tyco with ya money, she went to the doctor got lipo with ya money”, which means that she was supposed to buy food and pay for schooling for the child but instead she is out getting plastic surgery with the child support money. This is offensive to women because not every woman is looking for money in a relationship some are looking for romance and companionship. Kanye West’s song Gold Digger is very offensive to women everywhere because they are being misrepresented and are seen to be just Gold Diggers.

Show Don't Tell

The land was beautiful, but harsh. The town was safe from the elements, but outside could be dangerous if one did not take precautions.

The land behind our wall was supposed to be wild. We knew there was a forest but the creatures that lived within were supposed to be dangerous. ‘The wizard’ was born and bread there. When I was a child I had sneaked out from a hole underneath the wall and had gone into the forest, apparently I had almost been lost. The wall was our safety but some, like me, thought it was a cage that kept us in. Only a few had made it out and even fewer had come back in. One of the people who had made it back, was my father.

Show Don't Tell

The hero was strong and handsome. He was admired by the townspeople. He was brave and wished to help those in need.

I looked at our hero, with his curly dark chocolate hair and for the first time I was struck by his handsomeness. He had rippling biceps and was very tall. When he picked up heavy objects his muscles moved. Many of my family and friends admired him. He was always trying to do the best for us as he knew we were just poor townspeople, I guess you could say that he wished to help those in need. Many times he defeated huge drooling monsters set upon us by the evil dictator wizard. He was a very brave young man, sent to us by the gods. No one knows his name or where he came from. One night he just appeared at our town’s gate wearing torn and bloody clothing. In turn for food and shelter he promised to help defend the town, going as far as to trying and kill the evil wizard. From then on he has helped small and tall alike. From old ladies to young children.

“Need any help?” He asked in his deep voice. I was startled and choked out a reply

“ No thank-you”. I looked up and for the first time I realised his eyes were emerald. They glittered as if filled with water. I wondered why this was so. I waved as he walked away.

Lost - Book reflection

I have finished ‘A Rose for the ANZAC Boys’ and I have started reading the book Lost by Michael Robotham. This book is about Detective Inspector Vincent Ruiz who is shot and found clinging to a buoy in the River Thames with no memory of the case he was working on or where he was that nice. The part I am up to is when he is hospital and the doctor is explaining why there is a gauze bandage wrapped around his calf and his finger. He lost he finger before the found him. It was the fourth finger on his right hand. I will keep reading to find out who shot him.

To Kill a Mocking Bird - letter 2

Dear Madison
I am happy to hear that the boycott isn’t affecting you as well. It is so silly I don’t see why blacks cannot sit at the front of the bus I see no problem. I am in year 10 at a little school near our neighborhood. I have 3 friends and their names are; Cathy, Margaret and Ella-Sue, we play in the park a lot and were all neighbors. We are also all in the same classes at school. Is this the same for you? At school we learn English and home economics. We also learn how to read and write. We have morning tea at 10:30 and lunch at 1, we also learned how to tell time. All of my teachers are nice except Mrs. Smith who is an old hag. Do you dislike any teachers? During morning tea, lunch and after-school we play in the park and we also like to dress up. What is your favorite activity? We don't really know much about the world around us as we are only 15 but I do know it is not social to talk to black people, I also know that the latest fashion is high-waisted skirts. We don't own a radio so we don't usually listen to music what we usually sing is hymn. How about you? How is your life?
Yours sincerely,
Courtney

To Kill a Mocking Bird - letter 1

Dear Madison

My name is Courtney and I am writing to you from April 12th 1934. I see you asked me questions in your last letter and I will do my best to answer them. I have grown-up and I live in a ‘white neighbourhood’ (of course!) we have a white park behind us and our black maid Gracie always takes us. Our roads are smooth and everything is ‘white’. Every Sunday night we go to church and sing hymns. Our house is the average size with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, my older sister and I share a bedroom and our parents share the other bedroom. Two of the other rooms are studies and the last room is a laundry. Both of my parents are grocer owners and they try to make a living for us. In my neighbour hood there is also a market at the end of the street but they are only open every second day. Behind our neighbourhood is a ‘black’ street and Gracie’s family lives there, this is good as she can walk to work everyday and this silly bus boycott doesn’t effect us. So how are you going at the moment?

Yours sincerly,

Courtney

A Rose for the ANZAC Boys - warning spolier alert

I am still currently reading ‘A Rose for the ANZAC Boys’ and I am around the part where she has become and ambulance driver and she was a chauffeur for a general. She didn’t want to stay the night at a hotel with him when men were dying so she drove to a make-shift hospital made out of tents. She starts to help the wounded by cutting and stripping their clothes for the surgeon. She has the help of a man, whose name I do not know. While trying to sedate a soldier with chloroform he accidently kills him. I will continue reading to find out more.

A Rose of the ANZAC Boys

I have only just started to read this book; I am really enjoying it though. It is about a young girl whose twin brother (14) and older brother (18) goes to war. Even though her twin, Tim is under-age everyone still supports him going to the war. They all send letters to each other and in the first chapter (which is what I’m reading) she receives one from her twin Tim and one from her sister who is a nurse. They are describing how horrible the war is but most of what they say has been censored. I will continue reading to find out how she replies.

The Dark Hills Divide

Alexa and her dad take trip to Bridewell every year, for her father to do business/ work and for her to figure out how to get out of the huge stone wall that surrounds the city. The city is around 4 miles wide and about 20 miles long it also connects to two other cities. The wall was built by Warvold and his mysterious wife Renny to keep out dangerous monsters, so they thought. He had over 300 convicts build it in less than seven weeks. Alexa and her father are staying at the Renny Lodge (named after Renny Warvold). Alexa’s room has a small window that just looks over the wall. She brought a spyglass with her even though they are illegal. What do you think she’ll find?

The Dark Hills Divide

I have finished reading many books over the holidays but I have started reading the book the dark hills divide. It is book number one in the land of Elyon series. It is about a young girl who once for three weeks every year stays at this place called Bridewell with her father. This year she’s feeling rather adventures and she tries to find out what’s over the great stone wall that surrounds Bridewell. It was created about 30 years ago to keep the monsters from the forest away, well that’s what they thought. As the book goes on it starts to unravel why the wall was built and who the created it and who his mysterious my Renny Warvold was.

It is Dangerous to Read Newspapers

1. How does this poem make you feel? What emotions do you feel when you read it?

The emotions i got from this poem were sadness, regret, and defeat. The reason the poem made me feel this way was because i looked at the poem and tried to imagine myself as the poet. I believe while she was writing this peom she was feeling sadness at how many people are dying because they are fighting in the war and i also believe she felt sad because she knew about the vast numbers of the people dying. I think she was feeling regret because of how she could go on living a normal life, "While I was building neat castles in the sandbox" while the soldiers were fighting for their lives. I believe she feels regret because there is nothing she can do. She cannot stop the war and "Each time I hit a key on my electric typewriter, speaking of peaceful trees, another village explodes."

2. What is the poem about?

I believe the poem is about how a normal woman goes about her everyday life while out there in the war soldiers are fighting for their lives and she feels guilty that she cant do anything to stop it and she feels that everything she does affects the war, she feels this after reading the news paper about the Vietnam war.

3. List some of the descriptive words the poet uses and explain why they are effective.

Margaret has used some very literate describing words "passive eyes transmute" She could have just said my blank eyes change but by using these words she has described how she felt as well. She also used the word literate to refer to the fact that she could read and write but in a aristocratic way.

4. Why do you think the poet wrote this poem? What was he/she trying to achieve?

i think she was trying to show everyone what war is really like and also why you shouldn’t read newspapers as they fill your head with glory stories about war, such as Dulce Et Decorum Est, Pro Patria Mori.

5. Write the down your favourite line/lines from the poem. Explain why you picked them.

"Each time I hit a key
on my electric typewriter,
speaking of peaceful trees

another village explodes"

I like this stanza, it is the one that ends the poem and i believe it makes it go out with a bang. It is written in such strong language and it helps the poem flow. It is also very blunt and in your face that you don’t know what to do but accept it.

6. Did you like this poem?

Yes i liked the poem, this was because of the way it was written and how Margaret flowed the poem even though it did not rhyme. I also liked how strong the language was, it was very strong in some parts such as the last stanza. I also liked how she used similes.

7. Does the poem create an image in you head?

Yes the poem does, it creates images of piles of bloody bodies being bulldozed into pits while a little girl is making sandcastles at the beach, bombs being dropped on soldiers while a little girl is trying to land on the crakes on the sidewalk. it creates two different worlds of war and violence and peace and happiness, and its all going on in the same planet.

Wars lie

Dulce Et Decorum Est, Pro Patria Mori - Italian
It is a sweet and noble thing to die for one's country

War Haiku

Both sides think they're right, but both sides are wrong
Bloody bodies lay sprawled across the once peaceful battlefeilds
Horror and destruction when will it end

Visions of War

I choose the picture where people were being forced from their homes by German soldiers.

Dear Journal

My family and i got shoved out of our home today, they made us walk for miles and miles until we got to the concentration camp. While we were walking my little sister stumbled mum furiously whispered to me to help her up quickly so they wouldn’t see, I didn’t understand but i did it any way. It was horrible they followed us everywhere and they had us do large amounts of chores, and they gave us no food it was 300 grains of rice for 7 people. They took us to bed at sunset and we had to get up at sunrise. This was hard and if you didn’t get up they shot you. Our bodies quickly got used to the change. Our bodies grew thin and sinewy due to the hard work and we haven’t had showers for over 2 months now and our clothes are all crusty. There are around 20 of us here the others were shot or died of some illness. I have to keep you hidden diary, you are my only friend now that they took my sister and my parents are on the other side of camp and i am not allowed to see them. i have to go now diary they are coming and if your found i would be killed.
